The Ben Franklin PTO organizes many events throughout the school year to help raise money, entertain the students, and bring the Ben Franklin community together. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the committees below, please fill out the form below .

If you would like to volunteer and are not sure of where to start, please reach out to the Ben Franklin PTO 1st Vice President, Petra Crevier. There are numerous areas where volunteers are needed and we can’t wait to hear how you would like to help.

Fall Fest

Each Fall the PTO hosts an event where families can come together and enjoy games, crafts, raffles, and more.  The committee will need to solicit yard sale and professional vendors, donations, organize activities, and publicize the event.  On the day of the event, volunteers are needed to run games, 50/50 tickets, and work the activity and prize stations.

Trunk or Treat

For this Halloween tradition, PTO welcomes Ben Franklin families to show off their costumes, visit decorated car trunks, and collect treats.  Volunteers are needed to decorate their cars and distribute treats (candy and allergy friendly) to the children.

Clothing Drive

Items will be collected during designated time frames during the school year. Volunteers are needed to help bag and deliver donations.

Scholastic Book Fair (Fall & Spring)

Each year, proceeds from the Scholastic Book Fair are used to gift two books for each child in the school (during their birthday month and at the end of the year).  Held in the Fall & Spring during the weeks of in-school parent/teacher conferences, we’ll ask for volunteers to help students form their wish lists and shop the fair.

3rd Grade Committee

Together, third grade parents and guardians work to help give the third graders an amazing final year at Ben Franklin! The committee is responsible for the yearbook, 3rd grade party, and class gift. In addition, the committee is responsible for generating funds to go towards the 3rd grade party through planned fundraisers.

Grade Sponsored Teacher Appreciation Meals

Four times throughout the year, teacher appreciation meals are sponsored by the individual grades at Ben Franklin. A committee for each grade is needed to put together a lunch or dinner for the faculty and staff. Parent/guardian volunteers are needed to plan and determine the best way to collect food or donations to put on the event.

Holiday Shop

Held in mid-December, the Holiday shop allows students to shop low-cost items to gift family members for the holidays.  Wrapping included!  Helpers may be required for sales during school hours and in the evening.

Multicultural Night

To celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of Ben Franklin families, Multicultural Night allows for students and their families to showcase and honor their cultures with the school.  Volunteers are needed to share their cultures with students and families during the event.  They are also needed to help set up and clean up.

Movie Night

Family Movie Night is an event in which Ben Franklin students and families enjoy a movie and snacks with each other.  Volunteers are needed for set-up, concessions, and take-down.

Science Night

Our annual Science Night is filled with science lessons and information for all students, while allowing for third graders to display their homemade science projects.  Volunteers are needed to help at activity stations at the event.

Book Exchange

The PTO hosts a Book Exchange every year in honor of Read Across America Day.  Each year every student at Ben Franklin is able to take home a number of “new to them” books, depending on how many books the PTO is able to collect throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to collect used books and help on the day of the event.

Fun Run

Annually, the PTO organizes a race to provide an opportunity for families to be active together. Volunteers are needed for set-up, concessions, and take-down.

National Screen-Free Week

During the nationally recognized Screen Free Week in May, the PTO hosts daily events to help get the kids out and away from screens.  In the past, activities have included Rock Painting, Author Night, Family “Minute to Win It” and more!  Let us know if you would like to help put on an event!

Teacher Appreciation Week

The teachers and staff at Ben Franklin do an amazing job with our children each year.  To show them appreciation, the PTO sponsors and arranges acts of gratitude each day of the week.  In the past, these acts of gratitude have included supply restocks, catered lunches, and raffle prizes.  Volunteers are welcome to help plan for teacher appreciation week.

End of Year Carnival

As a way to celebrate the end of the school year, the PTO puts on a carnival where families can enjoy carnival themed games, take part in raffles, and win prizes.  Volunteers are needed to help facilitate games, sell concessions, set-up, and take-down.
